Aware of the tremendous expansion predicted for the express package delivery industry, enterprising air carriers are alert to opportunities to enter the field. DHL Worldwide Express recently announced an agreement with Japan Air Lines (JAL), Lufthansa Airlines and the Japanese trading company, Nissho Iwai, in which each acquired a minority share in DHL International Ltd. and DHL Airways, the U.S. operation, based in Redwood City, Calif.
