The suggestion of Paul B. Bartulica, M.D., that physicians should organize to gain political clout is meritorious, but futile ("Rx for Civil Justice System," Letters, September 1, 2004, p. 5).
If physicians were as organized as the plaintiffs' bar, we wouldn't have spent 30 years complaining about our miserable medical liability situation. But physicians by nature are rugged individualists more interested in one-upmanship and stabbing each other in the back than in ever becoming a cohesive bunch.
