Danny Maguire soon realized he hadn't bought enough trees and shrubs Saturday to properly xeriscape a 90-square-foot lot at Apache Elementary School.
The 17-year-old Boy Scout quickly arranged for someone to buy an additional 10 plants. Then he set about organizing a dozen younger Scouts who had volunteered to help Maguire complete his Eagle Scout project.
"You only get one chance to do an Eagle Scout project," Maguire said Saturday, his green sun hat drenched with perspiration. "If you mess up, it's your fault."
