VisuaLABS, Inc. (VLI, Calgary, Alberta) announced the completion of its first prototype 3D flat panel LCD computer display. The 16-in. diagonal display presents computer graphics or processed video that have been encoded with depth data. Images are viewed with no glasses or headgear in the same way they would be viewed conventionally, in 2D. In its ongoing program to broaden the application base for its unique technology, VisuaLABS has developed prototype variations of its base technology for CRT displays for both video and computer use, for many variations on electronic projection, and now, for the first time, on flat panel displays.
