Here come the Baby Boomers--they're retired, happy, energetic and ready to live large. So for the Village Center Community Development District in The Villages, Fla., this year's Class 20 winner, keeping pace with the crowd that's also growing quickly in numbers is the biggest challenge.
In a span of five years, the Village Center increased the number of pools from five to 20 and increased its programming, including lessons, aerobics, competitive swimming, synchronized swimming, SCUBA, snorkeling, canoeing, kayaking, boating and water walking. Many clinics and workshops are also offered to seniors through out the year.
All adult and sports pools require a swimmer to be at least 30 years old to eliminate noisy child's play; family pools allow visiting children.
