A lawsuit filed in Ohio serves as a reminder that there are multiple ways in which the abortifacient RU486 can have a very negative impact on a woman's health.
According to the Akron Beacon Journal (4/6/04), on April 5, Dana Powell filed a lawsuit in Summit County Common Pleas Court against the Akron Women's Center, abortionist Dr. Raymond Robinson, and nurse Mike Finke. Ms. Powell, from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, is seeking unspecified damages, claiming that a doctor's failure to diagnose her ectopic pregnancy and his prescription of RU486 had damaged her fertility.
According to her lawsuit, Powell, 30, was cramping and bleeding when she visited the Akron Women's Center in October 2002. Powell says she was told hers was a normal pregnancy.
Powell decided to have an abortion anyway and was given RU486. She was instructed to take a couple of tablets of Cytotec two days later. (Cytotec is the trade name for the second drug used in the RU486 abortion ...
