Patients enrolled in Medicare Part B will see an $11.60 a month increase in their premiums starting in January 2005. The new premium will be $78.20 a month. This is the largest dollar increase in Part B premiums in the history of the Medicare program, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). About three-quarters of the increase is due to additional costs for Part B, and almost one-fourth will go to build trust fund reserves, according to CMS.
