Defense never rests: some of majors' top fielders discuss the toughest plays for their position.
DURING THE BASEBALL SEASON, defensive highlights are a nightly television staple, a handful of plays that range from the extremely athletic on up to just jaw-dropping amazing.
An outfielder will leap against a wall to catch a ball headed for the seats or make an all-out dive, catching a ball headed toward a gap. An infielder will charge a slowly hit ball and make a strong, accurate throw off balance. Players will spear hard grounders with backhanded-finesse, make over-the-shoulder catches or turn double plays by leaping over oncoming base runners.
Pitchers and catchers will pounce on bunts, spin and throw and just barely get fast runners.
