IN A GAME AGAINST THE TAMPA BAY DEVIL RAYS AT TROPICANA FIELD MIDWAY during the 2003 season, Angels third baseman Troy Glaus dove in the air while trying to make a catch of a bunted ball and landed harshly on his right shoulder.
His dive and fall on the synthetic surface came with a high price. He damaged the shoulder, suffering a partial tear of his rotator cuff and the fraying of cartilage around the bone.
The injury placed Glaus on the disabled list, and resulted in his playing only 91 games last year.
