BEFORE HIS DEATH SOME YEARS AGO, FRED LINDSTROM WAS SITTING behind his desk at the Evanston (Illinois) post office where an inquisitive baseball writer stopped by for a visit.
As postmaster, Lindstrom supervised the imposing mail center which was located little more than a block away from Baseball Digest's editorial headquarters.
