CYFD Officials Weren't Called
Espanola police who arrested 8-year-old Jerry Trujillo after he acted up at James H. Rodriguez Elementary School on Thursday morning did not call to consult with local juvenile probation officials, a state official said Monday.
"In any case when a police department makes a decision to put a juvenile in detention, our juvenile probation office needs to know," said spokesman Matt Dillman of the state Children, Youth and Families Department. The department oversees juvenile probation in New Mexico.
