THE RAPIDLY developing primary health care sector and nurses' roles within it is the focus of an NZNO-organised conference in Wellington next month. Entitled Embracing the Future, the conference will bring together four NZNO colleges and sections: practice nurses, public health nurses, district nurses and nurses for children and young people of Aotearoa and Te Runanga O Aoteaora NZNO. It will be held at Te Papa on August 8 and 9.
Professional nursing adviser and organising committee member Faith Roberts said between 200 and 300 primary health care nurses were expected. "Because the primary health care sector is developing so rapidly, there is a strong need for nurses to come together and work out a collective view and purpose on how nurses can improve primary health care outcomes." …
