VANCOUVER, B. C. -- Three-fourths of fibromyalgia patients have chronic headache, about half with diagnosable migraine, according to an evaluation of 100 patients seen in a fibromyalgia clinic.

Test scores showed that the headaches severely limited ability to function in 80% of patients with headache. Another 5% were substantially impacted from their headaches, Dr. Cynthia Bernstein said at the annual meeting of the American Headache Society.

Although the fibromyalgia patients with headaches did not differ from those without headaches in physical disability and psychological distress, the headaches should be attended to, and the prevalence means fibromyalgia patients should be screened, said Dr. Bernstein of the department ...
