The ultimate competitive aquatics facility has been designed as a performance-driven concept for athletes and spectators.
The competitive spirit of the design is intended to rival Wrigley Field, Cameron Arena and Augusta as a pinnacle of competitive venues. The hallmark of each is the galvanizing union of athletes and spectators--a combination of spirit and skill aiming to reach the highest levels of athletic achievement.
The 4,000-seat arena seating design of the facility is intended to bring spectators as close as practically possible to the swimmers and divers.
The diving theater is a 25m-by-25 yd diving tank with seating on three sides. The diving and media tower supports 1- and 3-meter boards and platforms with 5-, 7.5- and 10-meter platforms, which are accessible by glass-enclosed stairs or elevator. Spargers, agitators, deck showers, whirlpools and saunas are all proximate liar the divers. A seating section extends below the water surface for underwater viewing of synchronized swimming and diving.
The opposite side of the diving tower is an ultravision screen and electronic scoreboards. The ultravision screen broadcasts images from motorized, cable-elevated cameras located above and below the water surface.
The 50-meter competition pool is a constant 8-foot depth, with a custom-configured concrete gutter to maximize overflow and minimize the noise of flowing water.
Lane markers keep linear times and splits, and the next generation of wireless infrared timing systems provides instant results and record tabulations. A movable floor and twin bulkheads call configure an infinite variety of horizontal and vertical venues for the ultimate in flexibility. Water-treatment systems and wave-quelling technologies are all designed to enhance performance.
