HAYWOOD SULLIVAN, 72, former co-owner and general manager of the Boston Red Sox (1978-1983), on February 12 in Ft. Myers, Fla. following a stroke. A catcher, he played for the Red Sox and Kansas City A's, starting in 1955 and finishing in 1963.
DICK WHITMAN, 82, a pinch-hitter and reserve outfielder who played in the World Series in 1949 with the Brooklyn Dodgers and in 1950 with the Phillies, on February 12. With the Phillies in 1950, he led the National League with 12 pinch-hits in 39 at-bats. He retired after the 1951 season.
