PAUL MOLITOR PROFILE
A .306 lifetime hitter, Molitor played 21 seasons in the major leagues with the Milwaukee Brewers (1978-1992), Toronto Blue Jays (1993-1995) and Minnesota Twins (1996-1998). A right-handed batter, he collected 3,319 hits (ninth all-time), 605 doubles (10th), 1,782 runs (17th) and 953 extra-base hits (30th). Molitor is one of only six players to total 3,000 hits and 500 stolen bases during his career--a feat also accomplished by Rickey Henderson, Lou Brock, Ty Cobb, Eddie Collins and Honus Wagner.
Molitor is the only player to collect five hits in one World Series game and for his post-season career, he hit .368--including a .418 mark in 13 World Series games and a .500 mark in the 1993 Fall Classic when he was the Series MVP for the Blue Jays.
In 1987, he hit a career high .353 for the Brewers and posted a 39-game hitting streak.
DENNIS ECKERSLEY PROFILE
A right-handed thrower, Eckersley began his major league career as a starter who won 151 games, including a no-hitter for the Cleveland Indians in 1977 and a 20-victory season for the Boston Red Sox in 1978. He rose to Hall of Fame status when he became a reliever in 1987 for the Oakland A's and went on to save 387 games between 1987 and 1998. In 1990, he saved 48 games with an ERA of 0.61 while walking four batters and fanning 73 in 73.1 innings of work. He became the ninth pitcher in baseball history to win the Cy Young Award and league MVP honors in the same season when he saved 51 games with a 7-1 won-lost record and 1.91 ERA for the pennant-winning A's in 1992. He finished his 24 seasons in the majors with 197 wins, 390 saves (third all-time) and 2,401 strikeouts.
