LAS VEGAS -- Patients who underwent laparoscopic hysterectomy reported high satisfaction rates and had a low incidence of subsequent cervical surgeries or vaginal bleeding an average of 55 months after the procedure in a study of 357 patients.

These women, who completed a follow-up questionnaire about their experience, comprised 60% of patients who under-went laparoscopic hysterectomy by a single physician in private practice during an 18-month period. Follow-up time ranged from 1 to 145 months after surgery, Dr. Amy Weaver Vance said at the annual meeting of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.
