A tornado caused more than just bricks-and-mortar casualties to eight businesses in or near Van Wert's Vision Industrial Park.
The tornado ripped through the industrial park--home to a number of small but growing manufacturing companies--demolishing four businesses and severely damaging four others in or near the park on Nov. 10, 2002.
Beyond the rabble laid an economic crisis, which left almost 500 people without jobs and more than 300,000 square feet of industrial property damaged or destroyed.
As a result of effective community partnerships and timely response, the businesses and jobs were retained. In addition, 122 new jobs will be created. …
