MAUI, HAWAII -- Mycophenolate mofetil appears to have greater utility for control of severe atopic dermatitis than other more widely used systemic immuno-suppressants, Dr. Michael D. Tharp said at the annual Hawaii dermatology seminar sponsored by the Skin Disease Education Foundation.
Published reports on the use of oral mycophenolate mofetil (CellCept) in atopic dermatitis are few, but the results have been very encouraging," compared with those for methotrexate or azathioprine, according to Dr. Tharp, chair of the department of dermatology at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago.
