ANAHEIM, CALIF. -- Laser treatment of port-wine stains may be on the verge of an important improvement, according to investigators at the annual meeting of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.
The standard laser for treating port-wine stains is the pulsed dye laser, emitting light with a 595-nm wavelength. But a longer wavelength may be the answer to getting a better response in port-wine stains that are resistant to the treatment--generally those that are on older patients and have become darker and thicker....
