Matsushita Licenses Kent Technology for E-Book.

Kent Displays (343 Portage Blvd., Kent, OH 44240; Tel: 330/673- 8784, Fax: 330/673-4408) has licensed its cholesteric "no power" LCD technology to Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. of Osaka, Japan. Matsushita is a leading manufacturer of consumer products, including the Panasonic brand, and has said it will introduce its proprietary "sigma book" electronic book in the fall of 2003. That electronic book will use cholesteric LCD technology.

This cholesteric "no power" LCD technology was originally developed at Kent State University's Liquid Crystal Institute and licensed to Kent Displays for further development. "This arrangement with Matsushita, one of our licensees, …
