WMS Aquatics: Over 30 Years of Commitment
When William M. Smith began his company in 1972 after being involved in the aquatic industry since 1958, he and his wife Florence started with one product line in the family room of his home with $45. Florence worked four years for the startup company full-time with no salary, proving the dedication that was necessary to succeed in business. The main product W.M. Smith & Associates, Inc. sold was Strantrol swimming pool automation, which was new technology at the time. From then on he was known around the industry as the Billy Graham of chlorine set, spreading the gospel of chemical automation.
William's son, Wayne, worked for his father through college and began working for Stranco after graduating. In 1987, Wayne felt led to take over the presidency and purchase the company his father started on a foundation of commitment.
