The U.S. Supreme Court's June 23 decision upholding inclusion of racial criteria in university admissions processes "will not only affect higher education" but "will help ensure better health care for all Americans," according to Association of American Medical Colleges President Jordan Cohen, MD. "Bridging the medical profession's diversity gap is essential, and AAMC believes that affirmative action is the most effective way to achieve that goal in the near term."
