I'd like to comment in reference to the letter from Joan Desira on safety switches and socket covers (December 2001).

I'm an electrical engineer and in my industry we don't use the term `safety switch'. This name often gives a false sense of security, as the devices don't offer absolute protection. In fact, under some potentially dangerous circumstances they may not trip at all. We refer to these devices by their proper term -- earth leakage circuit...
