NIOX Nitric Oxide Test System (Aerocrine AB)
A noninvasive test for measuring nitric oxide (NO) levels in exhaled human breath, as a method of monitoring responses to treatment in persons aged 4 years and older with asthma.
* Recommended Usage: Patient places mouth over the device's mouthpiece, inhales to total lung capacity, then slowly exhales. NO levels automatically appear on a computer screen. Lower levels indicate less airway inflammation and better control.
* Comment: Physicians can use the test in the office to evaluate responses to anti-inflammatory therapy. This "should help make it easier" to monitor asthma, the Food and Drug Administration said...
