Bike of the Year

Congratulations on selecting the FJR1300 as Motorcycle of the Year (June issue). As an FJR owner myself I can assure you that your comments are spot on. I've owned a few bikes in the past and coming from an era of GPZs, RDs and so on, the big FJR delivers the thrills I've always craved.

I love the magazine you put together every month and especially love your pick for Motorcycle of the Year. The FJR1300 is one of the best bikes ever to roam this planet. Keep up the good work.

Yes, the FJR is a great motorcycle but with one major flaw. You say you have yet to meet an owner who has anything bad to say about the bike...well, here is one owner who says there is a problem--heat on the legs. At any temperature above 75, the rider's legs get very hot riding in stop-and-go traffic. On the FJR owners Web site (not associated with Yamaha company) it is one of the most discussed topics.

The FJR is a great motorcycle in all respects except this one.

My June issue of Rider just arrived. Most other reading material gets laid aside while I devour Rider each month. My only problem with the June issue is the Motorcycle of the Year tribute. Yeah, I understand trimming it down to one selection, and I don't argue with this year's top bike choice, but what l object to is the length of the article. Isn't there any way to drag it out to several pages?

Don't do it next year, though, if it would mean shortening Grodsky's or Salvadori's columns! Lord, I do love to read those columns every issue!
