The role of pollen in provoking asthma attacks may have both an immediate and time-delayed effect, according to a study of the relationship between asthma and outdoor allergens.
In a separate study that looked inside school buildings, the amount of cockroach allergen correlated significantly with asthma rates. No significant correlations with asthma were found for the other indoor allergens assayed, including dust mites and cat, dog, and mouse allergen.
