The Economics of Waiting
I have seen several misleading articles presenting surveys that assume that long wait times are an indication of a dermatologist shortage. Such an article in SKIN & ALLERGY NEWS failed to stratify the data based on participation in managed care and the payment differences between surgical dermatology and medical dermatology ("Survey: Shortage of Dermatologists Spurs Long Waits," April 2003, p. 1).
