The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) has unveiled revised accreditation standards for behavioral health care organizations, hospitals, home care organizations, ambulatory care clinics, laboratories and long-term care organizations. The revised standards, which are effective Jan. 1, 2004, are the result of a two-year effort to reduce the amount of paperwork and documentation involved in the accreditation process and to increase its focus on patient safety and health …
