Golf course owners say the Southern Nevada Water Authority's new conservation proposal would amount to a scorched-earth policy.
They say the water allotments proposed by the authority are not enough to keep their fairways green.
"If the water budget isn't accurate or realistic, you will have businesses go under," said consultant Terry Murphy, who is working for golf course owner Bill Walters.
Also, some course owners fault the water authority for basing the allotments on turf acreage, a practice they say benefits courses with "wall-to-wall turf" and hurts those with more desert landscaping.
