Deborah M. Fong was facing three to 20 years in prison for causing a November 2001 car crash that killed a Las Vegas woman.
But two months before she was to be sentenced, she died of an overdose of methadone and Valium, according to the Clark County coroner's office.
Coroner records list Fong's death on April 8 as accidental, but earlier this month her attorney, Deputy Public Defender Dianne Dickson, said the woman committed suicide.
