Call any household in the country, and you might hear two people pick up different phones at almost the same time.
But when the phone is answered by both McKenna Medley and her Righteous Brother father Bill, you're reminded the 16-year-old singer has a little wider door into show business than most aspiring teens.
McKenna plays the Suncoast as a solo act today through Sunday; today's show was added after the first two sold out. It's a good sign that Coast Casinos' plan to build her stardom gradually is working, though a $22 ticket and the almost-certain knowledge that Dad will make a "surprise" stage appearance can't hurt either.
"I've definitely become more comfortable in my skin the past few years," McKenna says. "I like to go onstage and just see what happens, let myself go."
