The first pitch he saw as a major league player was a 100 mph fastball. Or so Bubba Crosby thought.
He was pinch hitting for the Los Angeles Dodgers in Colorado on May 29, facing Rockies reliever Todd Jones. Crosby was overwhelmed after the fastball zipped past him. But he looked up at the scoreboard and found it was actually a decidedly average 88 mph.
"I was so emotional and everything seemed to be happening so fast," Crosby said.
