There's no lottery in Nevada. But there was an exception made Thursday, and Marcus Banks held the winning ticket.
The former UNLV and Cimarron-Memorial High School star hit it big when the Memphis Grizzlies selected him in the first round of the NBA Draft with the 13th pick. The last of the lottery picks, Banks was a member of the Grizzlies for less than an hour before being traded to the Boston Celtics.
Because the NBA's salary structure is slotted depending on where a player is drafted, Banks eventually will sign a four-year, $6.4 million deal, the maximum a rookie can sign for. He flew to Boston late Thursday night to meet with his new team and talk to the Boston media today.
