Companies often rent 1800 numbers for a couple of months after a recall is announced. If the number given is no longer operating, phone the manufacturer or retailer direct.
THE PRODUCT: ICM and Burton have recalled three-pin plugs. These plugs may have been purchased on their own or on an appliance, and were manufactured between May 2001 and September 2002. Extension leads with ICM or Burton plugs aren't affected.
The problem: Some plugs may not earth the circuit properly. A risk of shock or fire could arise if the plug is attached to an appliance that has a fault that causes the appliance to become live, and safety switches fail to work properly.
What to do: Disconnect the plug or appliance. Check the plug to see if it has either ICM or Burton on it. If 'ICM' and 'K1-53' are around the outside edge, check if it has Texta marks on two of the pins or a sticker saying "inspected". If it does, there's...
