2003 JUN 16 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Data presented at the 156th scientific sessions of the American Psychiatric Association (APA), suggest that treatment with the anti-convulsant Lamictal (lamotrigine) protects against depressive symptoms in bipolar I disorder - commonly known as bipolar depression.
The findings from these pivotal 18-month, randomized studies of lamotrigine, some of the largest and longest ever conducted in bipolar disorder, highlight its potential role in addressing a major need in the long-term treatment of bipolar I disorder.
