SINCE THE PITCHING mound was moved to its present distance of 60 feet, six inches prior to the 1893 season, there have been more than 200 no-hit games of nine or more innings pitched in the National and American Leagues. Fifteen of these games are listed as perfect; some of the rest were definitely imperfect.
Last of the latter group was the 7-0 no-hitter pitched by Bret Saberhagen of the Kansas City Royals against the Chicago White Sox on August 26, 1991 at Royals Stadium. A questionable call by the official scorer enabled Saberhagen to get his no-hitter, and there have been at least seven others which fall into that same general category.
