Monte del Sol Wants State Help

Monte del Sol Charter School shaved $144,476 from its operating budget and now awaits more fiscal relief from the state Education Department and Santa Fe Public Schools.

"That's our contribution to the whole mess," school founder Tony Gerlicz said.

The new school took a $316,000 hit because of a school budgeting error that neither the state nor school district caught until recently. To finish out the fiscal year through June, Gerlicz said Monte del Sol needs $171,524.

Gerlicz said the state contribution will determine the amount of money Monte del Sol requests…
