Battle intensifies for medium truck tire retreading business.(Brief Article)(Statistical Data Included)
Last October, my comments in the Ludwig Report concerned retreading and my expectation that Michelin and Bridgestone would become much more visible in that arena. With TCI defecting from Bandag (its largest customer) and Bridgestone moving to run Treadco's Oncor plant, the battle has just begun. Michelin will get some (but not necessarily all) of TCI's retreading business, and Goodyear, not to be left out, is moving its' retreading business into high gear. The battle for the medium truck tire retread is in full bloom.
