MARK HAINES, CNBC HOST: It`s the most talked-about release of the year: the Sony PlayStation PSP. PlayStation Portable was released at midnight, and people weren`t even waiting until sunrise to get their hands on one. Fanatic gamers lined up as early as 7 o`clock last night to get their hands on one.
One million units were on store shelves as of midnight. Starting plans to ramp up production to 2 million units each month. Sony stock is up about 34 percent year-to-date. I don`t think so -- no, that doesn`t look right to me.
But anyway, can the PSP boost Sony to a whole new level of gaming? Joining us now to talk about the Sony PSP and the future of gaming is Kaz Hirai. He`s CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America.
