Q: I have an '82 Suzuki GS850GZ. The bike was originally purchased in Michigan, but I now live in Denver. I plan on rebuilding the engine this spring. I'd like to restore the performance of the engine it had at sea level. Would milling the head (allowing for piston-to-valve clearance) be an option? Is there a formula that can be used to determine how much material should be removed to support a specific compression ratio? If so, would I be able to use the sea-level jets in the carb? If the carbs need to be retuned, what tuning procedure would you recommend (Dynojet, EGA, air/fuel ratio monitor)?
