The basis of traveling, whether it's getting to your old army buddy's house in a strange city or going from Cairo to Cape Town, is knowing both where you are and where you are going. Let's say your buddy lives in Silver Spring, Maryland, and you're at the Interstate 95 welcome center near Jessup. The place has lots of maps, lots of info, and with a highlighter pen the woman behind the counter shows you how to continue down I-95, west on Interstate 495, south on U.S. 29, left on State Highway 391, and then a right on Greenbrier Drive.
