Las Vegan Hasim Rahman, the former heavyweight champion, hired a new manager in the midst of negotiations to challenge Vitali Klitschko for the WBC championship. That fight will be April 30 in New York.
Rahman hired James Prince to replace Steve Nelson, finally severing the last tie to the team he had when he knocked out Lennox Lewis to win the title in 2001. Rahman left promoter Cedric Kushner shortly after defeating Lewis to join Don King Productions. He later had a bitter split with trainer Adrian Davis, parted with co-manager Stan Hoffman and now chose Prince over Nelson.
Rahman, though, said Nelson will remain an adviser.
The fight is two months away, but neither King, Rahman nor Prince expresses concern over not having a contract.
