FONTANA, Calif. -- A member of the Busch family will start on the pole in today's NASCAR Nextel Cup race at California Speedway.
But it won't be reigning series champion Kurt Busch.
Nineteen-year-old rookie and Las Vegas native Kyle Busch captured the top spot Saturday for the Auto Club 500, breaking a 53-year-old series record for the youngest pole winner.
He did it by shattering a 2-year-old track record with a best lap of 38.248 seconds at 188.245 mph and will be the third consecutive rookie to start from the pole at the track.
