After manufacturers plunged head first into the highly profitable sport quad scene in 2004--leaving racers and ATV enthusiasts salivating--with popular machines like the Yamaha YFZ450 and Honda TRX450R made to compete with the Suzuki LT-Z400, few industry-breaking innovations made it past the manufacturers' walls in 2005. Most quads receiving rave reviews in 2004 only got minor tweaks to answer customer complaints, leaving us to wonder what's being cooked up by engineers for future models. Here's a look at 17 of the freshest models in the sport market:

For 2005, the ever-coveted YFZ450 gets a new seat that increases comfort over the course of long motos and treks on bumpy trails. The seat also comes with a "gripper" surface to aid in tight turns during race situations. Along with comfort in the seat, the YFZ has newly revised front suspension valving for improved bump absorption and reduced rider fatigue. The 450 is also going on a diet in 2005 in some areas to make up for added weight elsewhere, getting updated, lighter aluminum alloy shift and rear brake levers, that provide a more positive feel.
