It seems like the logistics of an international race effort would be way too complicated for one team to deal with: Riders who don't speak the same language and live thousands of miles apart, some bike parts from Europe and others from the States. The team piloting the defending No. 1 Banshee at the famous French race, the 12 Hours of Pont de Vaux, had all those problems to deal with but still was a very strong contender and could easily take the win.

The team leader was Yamaha France's factory rider Greg Lassaigne, who had won PDV three times, including the previous two consecutive years. Many people feel he's one of the fastest riders outside the United States. American pro Harold Goodman, also on the team, has raced PDV several times and took the win in 1998 on the dream team with Tim Farr and Shane Hitt. The third member of the team was American GNCC rider Mike Novak.

The Banshee would be as trick as they come. A Laeger's Pro-Trax chassis powered by a 378cc stroker motor. Even with a mysterious jetting problem that plagued the team for the entire race, they were second-fastest qualifier, took the early lead and finished second in round two of three rounds....
