Las Cruces native Edgar Lopez has come a long way from shining shoes as a child for extra money.

Today, Lopez is president of Las Cruces-based IMA Inc., a national real estate investment company with a portfolio worth more than $125 million.

Lopez founded the company in 1973. But it is within the last three years that he discovered a niche that has garnered attention from big-city real estate investment trusts -- Super Wal-Mart strip centers.
