If you grow up playing violin, but you don't want to get a job with a symphony, there are other options. You can play fiddle in a country band, and toss in some mandolin, which has the same strings as a violin.
David Pichette has done exactly that, playing both instruments in the rising country band Emerson Drive.
"I look at my guitar player, and I try to imitate him -- `I'm gonna rock the place!' And I'm gonna really pretend in my head that I'm gonna be the biggest guitar star!"
