Though his mother contends otherwise, 13-year-old Richy Conant insists he did not cry when his family evacuated their Mount Charleston home earlier this week because a forest fire loomed nearby.
"When I first heard about it, I was scared, but I didn't tear up," the redheaded boy said Thursday. "But once I saw it, I wanted to be up there fighting the fire."
On Thursday afternoon, the 290-acre Robber's Fire looked anything but mighty, and officials pared their 450-member work force down to 325.
