Becoming a professional golfer was the last thing on Greg Wellong's mind when he walked into the Callaway golf shop about five years ago to have his swing analyzed.

But as Wellong cracked drivers, the tester became perplexed. He was getting club-head and ball speeds comparable to those of long-driving competitors.

"They were getting numbers so off the charts, they couldn't even estimate how far the ball would have traveled," Wellong says, laughing.

And so the former junior college football and college rugby player decided to try his hand at long driving.

So far, so good....
